Event Detection with Collaboration Models in Wireless Sensor Networks
Cheng Dong-mei · Computer Engineering and Science · 2008
Event detection is one of the important applications of wireless sensor networks. However, the detection accuracy is limited by the amount of noise associated with the measurement and the reliability of usually low-end inexpensive sensor nodes. It is necessary to take use of the characteristics of the WSN whose nodes are usually densely distributed and can percept the environment independently to collaboratively detect events. This paper summarizes the studies on the detection of the application-related and network-maintenance-related events and finally shows the merits and demerits of different kinds of detection algorithms with different collaboration models.
