Computer information management system of earthquake prevention and disaster reduction in Hefei City: an introduction to examplary study and application for urban earthquake prevention and disaster reduction in China

Urban earthquake prevention and disaster reduction is a common and priority theme for each government and seismologists of all countries in the world. During Ninth Five Year Plan of China, with the studies of urban earthquake prevention and disaster reduction, the advanced computer information management systems were established in a few large or medium cities. This paper introduces the one of them ── GIS of seismic disaster assessment, earthquake prevention and disaster reduction of Heifei city, including its main contents, fea- tures and achievement. The system will play an important and active role in the promoting sci- entific and modern management, realization of ten year goal of earthquake prevention and dis- aster reduction.
