A Dynamic Modeling Approach to Requirements Analysis on Real-time Information Systems
Zhongyi Zhang · Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management · 2001
Real-time information system(RTIS) is one kind of systems that manage the real-time information of manufacturing process and operation in automatic manufacture and control systems. It usually takes on the characteristics of dynamic and real-time. An important approach to ensuring the smooth realization of its functions should be to improve the quality of its software requirement analysis. In this paper,we put forward a methodology based on the theory of finite-state machines (FSM) to dynamically model and analyze the requirements of RTIS,and illustrate it by an example of management information system at railway marshalling stations developed all by ourselves. Based on the essential characteristics of systems, this methodology ensures the completeness, consistency and unambiguousness of requirement analysis and definition. It also facilitates the transition to system design and the system testing. At last, the approaches to ascertaining system states and identifying events are presented.
