Wireless network coding over Rayleigh fading channels

Wireless network coding is a useful technology which can increase the total throughput of wireless networks. However, data transmission in wireless networks is affected by signal fading. With time-varying signal fading, the bit error rate increases and throughput decreases, which results in performance degradation of wireless network coding. The performance of network coding over Rayleigh fading channels was investigated and formulated as an optimization problem to further improve the performance of wireless networks. The solution of the optimization problem gives the optimal transmission scheme,i.e.,the optimal transmission data rate and the optimal transmission power level to maximize the total throughput.Simulations and numerical results indicate that this optimal transmission scheme effectively increases the total throughput.
