DDoS Detection Approach Based on Fractal and Character Clustering

According to the method of fractal-based detection not further parsing network packet, a new approach known as FCCD is proposed,which can integrate character clustering and fractal detection effectively. By analyzing MIT’s DARPA data, the validity of FCCD is proved. Compared with homogeneous fractal detection approach, FCCD can analyze in-depth the attacking characteristics when detecting the attacks successfully, and thus provide the filter modules with more information. Further more, FCCD adopting threads synchronization and memory database techniques, FCCD can ,with less system resources,make efficient concurrent implementation of fractal detection and character clustering.
