Research of point cloud data compression in surface reconstruction

In surface reconstruction, due to high density of data obtained from laser scanner, these data still contain a great deal of redundant data after reducing noise error. In this paper, a method for data compressing algorithm according to the curvature variation of points is proposed. This algorithm is simpler than other methods, and it can be easily understood and programmed. The principle and the procedure are described in detail.
