A Novel High Performance Computing Platform in Distributed Environment

Qin Zhang · Journal of Chinese Computer Systems · 2006

The design, implementation and performance analysis of a Novel High Performance Computing Platform in Distributed Environment named NHPCP,which overwhelms the disadvantages of network supercomputing platform based on volunteer computing mode,is presented in this paper.NHPCP is platform independent by utilizing object serialization and can run under different kinds of environments which are composed of different kinds of hardware and software.NHPCP is scalable, fault tolerant and user friendly.A convenient API(Application Programming Interface) set is also provided to support the development of parallel applications running on NHPCP.Two typical kinds of parallel application prototype have been developed to demonstrate the effectiveness of this platform. The results obtained from performance analysis show that certain kinds of parallel application can benefit a lot from NHPCP.
