Research in Data Model of Geographical Database Engine

The paper firstly illustrates and analyses several fundamental Geographical Database Engine(GDE)data models,such as Geodatabase and Oracle Spatial.On the base of the theories about storing and querying of enormous geographical data,the paper introduces the geographical data model which satisfies the requirements of storing and managing enormous,multi-data source and multi-scale geographical data effectively by using the technologies of object-relation data model and three client/server layers.Then,the paper describes the characters of GDE data model in detail.The data model realizes the transfer of research center of GIS from application systems to geographical data.
