An LDPC decoder compatible with Turbo codes
Jianqiu Zhang · Information and Electronic Engineering · 2012
A Low Density Parity Check(LDPC) decoder compatible with Turbo codes is proposed in this paper. In the proposed decoder, the Turbo code is transformed into the LDPC code completely.A parity-check splitting method is used to eliminate all of the short cycles in the check matrix of the transformed LDPC codes.Simulation results indicate that the proposed decoder shows better performance than the Joint Check Belief Propagation(JCBP) decoder by 0.8 dB,but loses the performance by 1 dB compared to the BCJR(Bahl-Cocke-Jelinek-Raviv) algorithm. The proposed decoder provides a new and convenient way for the application compatible with different communication standards.
