In the perspective of ontology,the mathematical realism has experienced complex historical evolution.The Platonism and Neo-Kantianism once attracted many mathematicians.After the middle of the 20th century,the physicalism about mathematical reality put forward by Quine and Putnam and Godel's Neo-Platonism have a lot of followers.At the end of the 20th century,Maddy and Dummitt express their understandings with regard to mathematical reality.The diversiform theoretical insights,variations and complicated interactions met with in dealing with mathematical realism problems reveal the difficulty in doing so.
