“Maximum detection-Secondary Correlation”frame synchronization algorithm for very low SNR conditions

Yang Zhuoka · Journal of Beijing Information Science & Technology University · 2015

The problem of frame synchronization is studied under very low signal to noise ratio(SNR).A composition of the 13-bit barker code and the 48-bit preferred synchronization sequence is adopted as the frame marker. The proposed synchronization algorithm utilizes a correlation array to calculate secondary order correlation and searches for local maximum correlation rather than the conventional maximum correlation detection.Simulation shows the proposed algorithm has a 10dB performance gain over existing methods.Moreover,multi-states automats mode for frame synchronization is also designed, which is proved to be able to protect the synchronization state and achieve another 5dB gain in SNR performance.
