In this paper, with previous researches we discussed some key issues about agent-based modeling, such as differences between agent-based and traditional analytical modeling, modeling theory, entity and agent, simulation platform, and so on, in war complex system. Studies show that agent-based modeling is better than traditional analytical modeling in a way, which offers a new idea and enlightenment for solving some basic puzzles in war game and simulation—problem decomposition and resolving, model granularity, model aggregation and dis-aggregation, entities effectiveness and attrition computing, etc. Finally, we point out agent-based modeling is becoming a hopeful means of modeling simulation in war complex system.
