The distortion of system dynamic characteristics by rank ordering

Rank ordering,as a kind of statistics method,has been extensively applied in practice and research on seismology etc for its overcoming the insufficiency of sample size.This paper proposes that the original time sequence implicates dynamic information of the system evolvement,but rank ordering has filtered the dynamic information in original sequence and distorted the dynamic characteristic of the system evolvement.Based on the original sequence obtained from sand pile experiment,our viewpoint has been proved by means of the R/S analysis method in this paper.
