Distributed Parallel Method for IDL

Liang Dian-nong · Jisuanji fangzhen · 2006

Cluster technologies have emerged as an attractive platform for developing large-scale parallel applications, and IDL is a popular platform for rapid prototyping and development of scientific and engineering applications. There is a need for the method allowing IDL to interoperate with clusters. A distributed parallel method for IDL was proposed, in which Callable IDL and MPI technology were used. This method not only gives full scope to the development convenience of IDL, but also parallelizes IDL programs in a cluster. Finally, an application – InSAR interferogram filtering – is shown, in which the method can be performed in parallel and results in dramatic speedup.
