Objective To survey and analyze the relative factors influencing the habituation and off-habituation of the seasickness. Methods One hundred and fifty-two subjects who had an early history of motion sickness were interviewed by one reviewer. Results In the initial stage, there were 64. 5% subjects who have heavy seasickness symptoms, 35.5% showed minor symptoms. There were 18. 4% ,43. 4% , 68. 4% ,78. 9% subjects adapted in 1 week, 2 weeks, 4 weeks and within 8 weeks, respectively. On the other hand, 21. 1% subjects did not adapt after 8 weeks, which was called inadaptation. Furthermore, there were 18. 3% ,55.0% , 63. 2% , 36. 7% subjects off-adaptation in 2 weeks, 4 weeks, 8 weeks and over 8 weeks, respectively. Conclusions The habituation time of seasickness is usually within 4 weeks, and off-habituation time is mainly at or over the 4th week. These findings indicate that a reasonable training time and periodicity will contribute to a best anti-seasickness effect.
