Personal Font Generation Method Using Template

This paper provides a system to generate individual fonts that maximize personal characteristics of handwritings of each individual. Such a font-generating will be provided to the public with a standard template, which is to be completed by each individual with his/her handwriting and submitted to the system by scanning the completed template. The service consists of five processes in escalating steps. In this paper, only the basic steps are introduced, that is, the first and the second steps. In the first step, the system defines the form of a template grouping the combination of alphabets, that is, consonants and vowels, according to the direction of the alphabet using six types of Hangul with each of the basic strokes and the direction of the alphabet. There are total 289 such combination of letters chosen for the template. In the second steps, the complete set of 11,172 combination are generated in the second steps. The main contribution of the system can be the provision of an environment to promote diverse culture and community that allow individual freedom to express their characteristics with their own fonts.
