A Load Based Optimization Method for the Performance of SMSC

With the rapid development of short message business, the performance problem of short message service center (SMSC) has emerged. How to maintain the sound operation of the message center and achieve satisfactory performance under heavy load or overload has become a focus of concern. Focusing on the defects of the existing time-based retransmission policy, which tends to bring about system overload under heavy load, this paper presents a new workload-based resend policy of SMSC for workload adaptability. By staggering the peaks of the first send flow and the resend flow, this policy could control system delivery workflow in a configured limited value and reduce the risk of SMSC congestion under load near the full processing capacity of the system. Therefore, it will improve the reliability and performance of SMSC under heavy load.
