TiO2/bamboo charcoal composites are prepared by sol-gel technique. The adsorption behavior and the photocatalytic degradation processes of methyl orange on the composites are studied. The results indicate that adsorption of methyl orange on the composites is physical adsorption and adsorption law of methyl orange on the composites fit in well with Freundlich model. With the increase of pH value, the degradation rate of methyl orange on the composites decreases.At.0×10-5mol/L of methyl orange solution concentration and 16g/L of catalyst concentration under UV light irradiation for 90 min,the degradation rate of methyl orange can reach 90.68%.The photocatalytic degradation of methyl orange on the composites fits in with the first-order kinetic order.
