Multi-objective optimization model and algorithm for variable-rate fertilization decision-making

Zheng Ning Yu · Scientia Sinica Informationis · 2010

Fertilization decision models and optimization algorithms are key aspects of variable-rate prescription generation in precision agriculture. The paper presents a multi-objective optimization model that takes into consideration not only crop yield and quality but also energy consumption and environmental effects, and proposes an efficient tabu search algorithm that starts from the solution with maximum yield, constructs neighborhood solutions based on the concept of the nearest feasible vector, searches for new solutions and updates the solution sets based on the quality evaluation function, and finally gets a set of(near) Pareto-optimal solutions to enhance decision support for variable-rate fertilization in precision agriculture. The case study on a camellia oleifera fertilization optimization problem demonstrates the effectiveness and practicality of the model and the algorithm.
