Implementation of Sub-Sampling with FPGA Based on Wavelet Transformation

Sub-sampling—interpolation is a very important method for many applications in the field of continuous-tone still image communications.It can also cooperate with other compression methods to make up of mixed schemes to get higher compression.Considering the idea of sub-band encoding in wavelet transformation,we can use it to complete sub-sampling.Base on the arithmetic of integral wavelet transformation proposed by Daubechies et al,one layer(5,3) integer lifting is implemented by FPGA.The results of FPGA correspond with software emulators.
