Research on traffic predication for multicast based-on packet sampling

The uneven distribution in multicast is one of main reasons which causes network congestion.However,it is the key to solve congestion for traffic predicaion.This paper introduced two main methods of traffic predication:packet sampling and frequency sampling.The paper presented sampling model,analyzed real-time traffic resouces.By simulation experiments,relativity of time squence of sampling circle and strong self-similitude of network traffic were concluded.Packet sampling was prior to frequency sam-pling in traffic estimation,precision error and packet obatained value.The packet sampling provided reliable data for investigation on congestion controling,and guarantee the network quality of services.
