Underwater color image enhancement method based on image fusion

A new underwater image enhancement method based on image fusion technology,which has high efficiency and low complexity,is proposed.The white balance and global contrast enhancement technologies are applied to the original image respectively,then these two adapted versions of the original image are taken as inputs to be weighted by specific maps.The enhanced results can be obtained by computing the weight sum of the two inputs in a per-pixel fashion.Since the complex deconvolution is not employed,the algorithm has a high computing efficiency.The experimental results demonstrate that the algorithm reduces the execution time of the computer and effectively enhances the visual quality of the underwater image.
