The way of modifying polyvinyl acetate is to have the vinyl acetate and the serial of acrylic acid monomers polymerized, and to use the method of surfactant-free copolymerization.Furthermore, using oxaldehyde, make the emulsion crosslinked and form a kind of net structure, thus a new kind of water-resistant adhesive is created. The monomers′ actions to the emulsion have been studied, meanwhile the emulsion′s structure and performances also been checked with DSC,electron microscope and so on.The results indicated as following statements. Each monomer′s dosage had a certain influence to the emulsion′s viscosity and shearing strength. The DSC revealed that the emulsion′s glass temperature declined to-46℃,that means a high cold-resistance.The TEM picture appeared that the average emulsion particle diameter is 200 nm or so and they are evenly distributed,it means that the emulsion has a high stability. The membrane's absorb water rate is 25%,it proved the emulsion has a high water-resistance.
