3D Free-form Surface Matching and Its Applications

For the requirement of many practical applications in the fields of 3D measurement, change detection and computer vision, the research in 3D free-form surface matching isvery active. In thispa- per, the 3D free-form surface matching techniques and its applications are briefly reviewed from the perspective of representation, matching elementsselected methods, transformation and matching strategy. Based on analysis and comparison, the advantages and disadvantages with its application fields of these methods are pointed out. Some proposal sabout the research on matching techniques are also given.
