ERROR CONTROL TECHNIQUES FOR RELIABLE MULTICAST

Multicast provides best effort delivery, which means it does not guarantee the reliability of data transportation. Some techniques supplement multicast in this aspect. Those techniques include ARQ scheme of unicast, FEC codes used in telecommunication field and combination of the two. They differ in strategy and performance. This paper overviews those techniques and discusses their application issues.
