Word Sense Disambiguation in Machine Translation

The usual methods of disambiguation do not seem to work well in English-Chinese machine translation.The key reason is that while some semantic rules can be generalized,many others cannot,especially the specific semantic rules of polysemantic words.Hence a careful analysis of semantic rules regarding each and every polysemantic word and,accordingly,a selection of disambiguation methods are crucial to English-Chinese machine translation.
