Study on Daytime Camera for Corona Discharge Detection

Corona discharge does great harm to high voltage lines and equipments,accordingly it is very important to detect the defects caused by corona. The emission in the solar-blind ultraviolet (SBUV) region (240~280 nm) caused by corona discharge is weak but the solar background in this range is nil. A daytime camera,namely,self-made solar blind ultraviolet and visible camera based on beam-split scheme is introduced accordingly. The camera adopts a catadioptric telescope which has a large entrance pupil and high resolution. The telescope is easily fabricated,for the reason that all the surfaces are spherical. In a sunny day,experiments were carried out outdooes to take photos of the spot UV source and background tens of meters away,and clear UV and visible pictures are obtained,and also the integrated pictures are given clearly.
