Image transmission over noisy channel based on UEP of embedded bit-stream

For the image communication over the noisy channel based on unequal error protection(UEP) of embedded bit stream,a coding transmission method for rate allocation scheme(RAS) side information is proposed and the optimal system performances attainable in practice are analyzed as well.Firstly,system performance evaluation,optimization problem and optimal RAS solving method relative the transmission of RAS side information are presented.Furthermore,it is proved that the optimal RAS is composed of segments with different code-rates and an effective coding method based on run-length coding is proposed.Finally,with the proposed methods,the optimal system performances attainable in practice with different transmission schemes are analyzed,and some system design principles are obtained.
