RBMCC—A Rate-Based Multicast Congestion Control Mechanism

Ren Li · Systems engineering and electronics · 2003

Multicast congestion control mechanism is one of the key problems in the designing of multicast protocols. A multicast congestion control mechanism, i.e. RBMCC, that is rate based and driven mixedly by sender and receiver, is presented. RBMCC uses the local loss rate and aggregated ACK of intermediate nodes worked out by receiver and TCP friendly rate computed by sender to provide a timely and accurate response to the network congestion. Simulation results show that RBMCC is scalable and TCP friendly.
