Analysis of burnout accident for a 110 kV current transformer

By using the high voltage technology theory, the reason of flashover was analyzed for the outer cover of the porcelain insulator of TA which has poor insulation when the substation is struck by lightning waves. It is necessary for power substation to carry out periodical equipment detection. Some concrete and feasible preventing measures were presented for avoiding equipment being destroyed by lightning wave strike. Meanwhile the conclusion shows that the substations with lightning-proof design do not need to install extra over-voltage protector. It is significant for guiding the safety operation of the power substation.
