Research and Simulation of Selectable Mode Vocoder

The Selectable Mode Vocoder(SMV) speech coding algorithm for the CDMA2000 mobile communication system was introduced in this paper.The major blocks and characteristics of SMV codec were described briefly here.At last it was simulated,and was tested with the method of PESQ(Perceptual evaluation of speech quality).The result of simulation shows that SMV can provide an ideal?voice quality at low ADR as well as the flexibility of allowing the system operator to make tradeoffs between voice quality and system capacity.
