Comparison with modes of amplify-and-forward and decode-and-forward in cooperative communication system

Being the basic cooperative communication protocols,amplify-and-forward(AF)and decode-and-forward(DF)have been paid more attention in recent years.According to the complexity,symbol-error-rate(SER)and power allocation scheme, the comparison with DF using cyclic redundancy check(CRC),DF without CRC and AF is proposed in the paper.Firstly,it is pointed that AF is the simplest.Secondly,DF and AF have similar power allocation schemes to optimize the SER performance. Finally, the SER performance in DF protocol without CRC is the worst because the DF is very sensitive to the channel gain between the source and relay, while the DF with CRC can achieve a little better SER performance than AF.
