Native XML database is database that store information in an XML format. The features of the NXD canpreferably satisfy the specific demand of the applications such as e-Business which store and retrieval datain an XML format that has a very complex structure with deep nesting, and data that is semi-structured innature. NXD is a right choice for those applications. The paper introduces the Native XML Database foundationalconcepts and the related technologies, and analyses its realizations and applications.
