Research and Development of a Videoconference System Based on IP Multicast Technology

To resolve the limitation of bandwidth resources existed in multimedia communication on IP network,the design of real-time video communication system and key technology solutions in system implementation are discussed.This system adopts IP multicast to transmit video stream in order to save on the bandwidth, designs the communication mechanisms among every terminals referring to H.332 protocol,uses DirectShow technology to manage video stream and develop the filters for video transmission.The test result proves that using IP multicast can effectively save on bandwidth.It also shows good expansibility in system scope.
