A Discussion on the Application of UML in Developing the Relational Spatial Database of GIS

Spatial Database is the core of GIS; it is a very important pr ob lem as to how to use Object-Oriented methods in the analysis, design and realiz ation of Spatial Database, to realize the natural transfer from the question dom ain to design domain in the software life. UML is a powerful and standard Langua ge of OO Modeling.On the basis of living examples, this thesis discusses how to apply the UML to develop the Relational Spatial Database of GIS, and resolve the transforming from OO Model to Data Model and Relation of Spatial Data in GIS wi th UML. On this basis, through the desi gn of the system object, we constantly consummate the structure and the function design of the database and obtain sound results.
