A Cognitive Study of "as...as" Construction

As...as construction is commonly used for comparisons of equivalence.However,diversified semantic contents demonstrating the relationship of contrast,progression,transition and condition can be woven in the construction.This paper explores the mechanism of the formation of the construction within the framework of Model-based Stereotypical Relation Theory.It proves that it is the rule of similarity and proximity that leads to the formation of as...as construction.
