Design of an experimental AM/FM modulator module based on digital signal processing(DSP)

This paper presents a design of an experimental analog modulator module based on direct digital synthesis(DDS) using digital signal processing(DSP).The hardware configuration and software design are first introduced and the principles of the AM/FM modulator based on DSP are described.It is shown that a single-quadrant storage structure of sine wave form can be used to lower the noise of the output of the DDS effectively.The test results obtained validate the approach used and the modulator can be used successfully in laboratory experiments and to further develop existing platforms.
