Principles of SOAP and Its Implementation
Wenhua Zeng · 2002
SOAP(Simple Object Access Protocol)is an XML-based lightweight protocol for exchange of information in a decentralized, distributed environment. The main goal of SOAP is to facilitate interoperability between heterogeneous software components, and get around some limitations, such as different platforms and firewalls blocking, to provide intraprocess communication across machines. This paper represents several background technologies related to SOAP, such as XML, Web Service and WSDL. Then we describe the SOAP specification including SOAP messages and SOAP envelope through some examples. Finally, we represent the implementation of the SOAP specification on both client-side and server-side in Windows.
