Resource Constrained Web Services

The purpose of this paper is to identify the technical difficulties and open issues of resource constrained Web services,in order that the researchers can conduct innovative researches.Resource constrained Web services combine new technologies of service computing with wireless networks,mobile computing and embedded systems.It is an important enabling technology of the internet of things and an effective means of accessing cloud platform with small terminal equipments.It has broad application prospects in mobile e-business,modern healthcare,smart home and manufacturing automation et al.This paper presents the concept of the resource constrained Web services,analyzes its origin,technical features and development trends,then reviews the representative researches on service components,development tools,middleware,frameworks,specifications and applications.The contribution of this paper is that it presents a survey on resource constrained Web services and gives the research directions.
