Computer-assisted 3D-reconstruction of lip and nose using serial sections

Objective To prepare the serial tissue sections of lip and nose, and establish a visible virtual model by using the 3D reconstruction software. Methods The nose and lip specimens were serially sectioned and underwent HE staining, the serial section preparatio images were taken by digital camera and processed, the three-dimensional model of nose and lip was reconstructed and simply applied using the 3D reconstruction software. Results Successfully making the bigger tissue into serial slices with paraffin method. The primary visible nose and lip model was successfully reconstructed with 3D reconstruction software. The digital model possessed nice visible character. Conclusion The method of 3D models reconstruct from serial histological sections of nose and lip is feasible.
