Research on Video Quality Versus Codec and Network Parameters in Media Streaming Systems Via Simulation and Measurement

To analyze the influence of codec parameters and QoS of network on video quality,simulated media streaming systems that support Windows Media Server and Flash Media Server were been built,Utilizing the network controller to simulate different video transmitting environments.Characteristics of key codec parameters(ie.bit-rate,key picture) and video network transmitting parameters(ie.bandwidth,lost rate) versus quality of video streaming systems were depicted with analysis.The results can be considered as the important parametric optimization principles to improve the performance of media streaming systems.
