In the new video compression code standard H.264,the block matching motion estimation plays a very important role. Its performance affects the quality of the encoded bit stream. In the block matching, the most time-consuming part is motion estimation. In order to reduce the time and search frequency, fast search algorithm is often adopted. The paper introduces the methods of block matching, especially 3 kinds of fast search algorithm in the search process of block matching, and make comparative analysis of the performance of the three algorithms.
