A generalized three-electrode grounding resistance measurement method

Feng Liu · Electric Power · 2011

In contrast to the present ground resistance measurement methods recommended by national standard, this paper proposes a generalized three-electrode measurement method,in which the voltage measurement electrode can be arbitrarily located on a circle.Based on the impedance formulas of the three-electrode measured electrode system, the center location and the radius of this circle are given. To verify the validity of the proposed method, the grounding resistances of single vertical and combined grounding electrodes are measured by the straight line method, the triangle method and the proposed method. The results from all these methods shows that the proposed method is practical in engineering measurement of grounding resistances.Furthermore, the location of the electrode in the proposed method is flexible and convenient for wire layout.
