A Method for Estimation of Source Number Based on Spatial Smoothing and Gerschgorin Disk Criterion
Qinghua Guo · Radar Science and Technology · 2003
A method for estimation of number of coherent sources is presented in this paper. This method is used to determine the coherent structure and the number of coherent sources in coloured noise scenario. It first decorrelates coherent sources with the spatial smoothing technique, then determines the dimension of the smoothed signal subspace using Gerschgorin disk criterion. After repeating the above two steps several times, the sources' smoothed rank profile (SRP) can be obtained to determine the coherent structure and the number of coherent sources. Simulation results demonstrate the validity of the method.
