Survey on Design and Research of Routing Metrics for Wireless Mesh Networks

Despite efforts to improve the current IEEE 802. 11 standard to fully optimize the physical layer,the performance of wireless mesh networks still depends on the routing process for a correct selection of routes. Routing metric is a key factor of routing protocol. Issues about the design of routing metric,based its feature and components,is analyzed. From the four main research perspectives( basic metric,interference-aware,load-aware and mix metric) of RM 's components,correlational studies are introduced and analysed comparatively. The future direction of RM design is also indicated.
