Research status of drug toxicology

Drug toxicology is a branch of toxicology,which deals with assessments of the toxic mechanism and safety of pharmaceuticals and provides guidance and rationales of drug synthesis and pharmaceutical therapy.The investigations of drug toxicology are also useful to reduce the risks of clinically toxic effects of drugs and withdraw drugs with higher toxicity at the early stage of research and development.This article reviews current status and trends in the researches of toxicology and discovery toxicology of drugs as well as the new modules of drug safety research and evaluation.
