A Tool of System Performance Analysis: Stochastic Petri Nets

Stochastic Petri Nets(SPN) are becoming popular as a powerful tool for description and analysis of systems that exhibit concurrency, synchronization and conflicts, and its applications in fields such as computer systems, communications systems and C3I systems are successful. In this paper, the development of SPN is introduced firstly. Then the method to analyze the system performance by SPN is described. Finally, the difficulties of SPN are pointed out and the main methods to overcome these difficulties are introduced.
