Research on Mechanism of Multicasting and Broadcasting

This paper proposes a MAN/WAN topology encapsulated with Ethernet technology, i.e. IEEE 802.1ad and IEEE 802.1ah, which realizes a hierarchical network composed of independent customer network and provider network, analyzes the mechanisms for restricting the flood, multicast and broadcast traffic, and brings forward a mechanism to efficiently multicast customer’s unknown unicast flood, broadcast and multicast traffic in MAN/WAN.
