Research and Implementation of the Interworking Between SIP and MGCP in NGN

Lin Zheng · Journal of Guilin University of Electronic Technology · 2005

SIP and MGCP are two protocols playing very important roles in the Next Generation Network, yet the interworking between these protocols also becomes an emerging problem. Based on analyzing some key problems of the interworking: protocols conversion, seeking address, resource negotiation, etc, this paper presents a solution scheme. The scheme is to expand a interworking module within the entity of Media Gateway Control. The interworking module is programmed in C/C++ language on the Linux platform. It introduces the multithreading process and the mechanism of Finite State Machine. In our lab, Point to Point calls between SIP network and MGCP network can be established through the interworking module. That shows the interworking scheme is reasonable and feasible.
