The examination of thermal paper by FT-IR

The objective is to establish a sensitive, accurate, non-destructive method for determining thermal paper. With Fourier transform of infrared spectroscopy, 40 samples of thermal paper from different manufacturing areas and different brands were characterized, obtaining the FT-IR spectra for thermal paper samples. The result shows that according to different absorption peaks of infrared spectra, the main constituents of thermal paper samples can be identified. It concluded that this method needs not destroy samples, having good repeatability, and can be used as identifying material evidence of thermal paper.
